‘I earned it’: Jon B is not happy with Chloe Bailey and Gunna using his samples without permission

Jon B is disappointed that his music is being used by new artists. A similar instance was also mentioned by the Someone to Love singer and it involved both Chloe Bailey and Gunna.

On a recent episode of the Can We Talk R&B? podcast, Jon B recalled his 1997 hit track, They Don’t Know. The artist then opened up by talking about Chloe Bailey and Gunna’s 2022 song You and Me, which Jon B says uses his famous hook and chorus lyrics as well as his guitar lick.

Expressing his disappointment, the Now I’m With You artiste said that he couldn’t stand the fact that both artistes released that track, adding that he wishes Belly and Gunna hadn’t made that mistake.

Jon B also mentioned that the aforementioned artists never asked for the rights to use their samples, adding, “Gunna, we gotta yell about it… it’s some business matter we gotta handle.”

While the Waiting On You artist spoke about Belly and Gunna’s track, he said that having their ’90s samples on the new track feels like a compliment.

Jon B went on to say that producers and co-songwriters Tim and Bob share the same sentiment. However, the Pretty Girl artist added, “My lane is my lane, and my territory is my territory, and I’ve earned it.”

Elaborating on what he meant, Jon B said that if an artist comes up with a hit track, they have every right to do whatever they want with it, and Jon B won’t steal their stuff and not pay them for their work.

Since the Can We Get Down artist made these statements about the song You and Me on the podcast, neither Chloe Bailey nor Gunna have commented on them.

It is important to know that the duo paid tribute to Jon B’s track on Valentine’s Day in 2022. They used a public payphone scene that comes in the intro of Jon B’s original music video.

Talking about Gunna’s latest project, he released his studio album One of Won in the month of May this year. Talking about Belly, she will launch her album Trouble in Paradise on Friday, August 9.
