I attended a fake wedding party in Delhi, and how it happened

Lehengas and saree? check. Mehndi artist? check. Marigolds and Fairy Lights? check. A wide food spread? Umm… not enough. There is a glimpse inside a fake wedding incident in Delhi.

Elite Club Bohka in Qutub institutional region of South Delhi, that night, nothing was visible like his normal sharp, neon-liter itself. Gone Dim was known for mood lighting and Peppy International Beats.

For fake music a few weeks ago, the space was wrapped in vibrant yellow and magenta clothing, with fairy lights twinkling overheads, installation of flowers at every turn, and even collided in a corner with a mehndi and collapsed in a full -shade setup in the smooth party spot of Delhi.

Sahib Gujral, co -founder of Jumma’s Rat, said, “You know the concept when the hosts like Bohka agree to play,” said Sahib Gujral, the co -founder of Jumma’s Rat -the group that launched fake music in February 2025, which gave a new way to India (and now the world) party. In the last few months, the concept has gained wild speed, jumping on bandwagan in cities such as Goa, Lucknow, Jaipur, Bangalore and Kolkata.

India today, before being a nationwide report on the craze of this Indian General-Z Party for the first time, recently to see what is about everyone.

A route with traditional floral decorations – reminds us of a wedding entrance – to the place that was buzzing with full -wedding vibes. On my left, girls gathered around mehndi artists, adorned with henna on their hands; On the other side, doubling as a photo station, rickshaws covered in flowers were standing.

Fashion quotient? So the point is damn on the point. It was as if the attendees had received the wedding invitation in the past and carefully cured every detail of their look. We are not even joking! Challe it to the fashion pulse of Delhi, perhaps – but fake wedding fashion was one thing in the event that could easily pass for the real deal. Ok, okay, just not fashion – add music and decoration to that list too!

Lahengas, anarkalis, saree, inspired by Kareena with nomination, Sherwanis styled with dupattas, heavy earrings, mang tikkas, bangles – the entire vocabulary of desi wedding fashion appeared for this fake wedding. Some also brought their designer the best – think of a troop of a Masaba Gupta artists – without a couple for this wedding.

Others brought out the best of their strange style. Imagine swaping that pair of salwar for sheer stockings to pair with an ornate kurta- will you dare to wear for a real wedding? A fashion-forward guest just did so, confidently flaunting a Y2K-inspired form with a bold twist.

Around the fake wedding parties, there is a mixture of things that actually work well for the youth: The Thrill of Dressing Up, Bollywood Music, Buzz and Friends. For Lovebirds, it ‘realized’ them.

Unlike real weddings – where every step is investigated, which you are drinking and eating, how much weight you have gained, with whom you are hanging out, how well you are dancing well, and how many people you are talking – this crowd looks like to roam in fun without pretense or looks at the decision -making relatives. Vibes were completely unwanted.

Guests also prefer that fake wedding parties come without the burden of responsibilities. As a family wedding or a close friend, endless duties can quickly enjoy – to coordinate with decorators and to carry the airport pick -up to heavy Mitai Working with boxes and topical braidzilla.

The indoor hall was the place where real fun was happening. DJ blasted the best of Punjabi and Bollywood music – a playlist directly out of a grand wedding sungate night. Mauja Hi Mauja, Lung da lashkar, Nach Baliye And yes, o ho ho (Ishaq tera tadpavConnecting the wedding vibes was roof decoration – marigold strings and Jaipuri decorative umbrella cascading down.

Not lies, finally it became so low that there was hardly any place to breathe or move freely – until you were too intoxicated to bother.

Here for ‘Gram’!

FOMO seemed to have driving force behind many attendees. The phones were out all the time – capturing the glimpse of the event, the best angle in every possible corner, even the middle -dance.

Because let’s be honest: Did you participate in a wedding as well if you did not get those right clicks in the ethnic finish against the background of a dream decoration?

But in this fake music, phones were also present. Like real guests of honor! In fact, many material manufacturers and owners of the fashion brand were only in appearance to shoot ‘materials’. A designer also came with a wide clan – all wore outfits from her label. The Region? To shoot cool material and promote your brand.

A major miss? Lack of food! We did not have a single food stall that we had participated in the fake wedding event. Certainly, three times and excited music continued the crowd, but ordering food from the kitchen was barely an option. Call it a fake wedding – it is a music – and not spreading a proper food? Unacceptable, imo!

But many organizers do it differently. Some fake marriages come with full meal, while others take bizarre routes with the setup leading the experience. Think of the wedding -theme games – to divide the guests into Ladkiwalas and Baratis, play grazing, or guess relatives based on classic stereotypes. Without these marriage-specific elements, a fake wedding party can easily pass for a best Delhi Diwali bash.

Interestingly, fake wedding parties grew during the off-season (May to August). Now with the real wedding season, it remains to be seen whether the trend will fade in ambiguity – such as a lot of viral fads.
