Huge controversy: Ranveer Shorey criticizes Dhruv Rathee after U-turn on praise of Wasseypur
Dhruv Rathee criticized the violent content of ‘Dhurandhar’ trailer, sparking a heated online debate. A heated debate broke out on social media between him and actor Ranveer Shorey over the violent content in the trailer.

YouTuber Dhruv Rathee criticized the trailer of the upcoming film ‘Dhurandhar’ starring Ranveer Singh directed by Aditya Dhar. Rathi alleged that the depiction of violence in the film was excessive and harmful, prompting actor Ranveer Shorey to come forward and defend the filmmaker.
Following the release of the trailer on November 18, Rathi posted a strongly worded criticism on X.
He wrote, “Aditya Dhar has truly crossed the limits of cheesyness in Bollywood. The extreme violence, gore and torture shown in the trailer of his latest film is equivalent to watching ISIS beheadings and calling it ‘entertainment’. His lust for money is so uncontrolled that he is willingly poisoning the minds of the young generation. This is an opportunity for the censor board to show whether they are allowed to kiss people or skin someone alive.” It’s a bigger problem than watching it take off.”

An X user told that Rathi had earlier praised Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, a film also known for its violence. Responding to the criticism, Rathi wrote, “I was wrong then, I did not understand the impact such films have on the society.”
Shourie took a dig at Rathi’s comment, saying, “Dude, you are wrong most of the time, but I like how you turned it into a career.”

Rathi hit back at the actor’s appearance in Bigg Boss, saying, “Better than a career where you have to do fake fights in Bigg Boss for a living.”
The debate escalated further when an ex-user advised Shourie not to reply to Rathi. Shourie replied, “I would not have engaged this angel, if he had not tried to harm a film and a film producer. He is earning his influence and money by sitting in Europe at the expense of Indians and their interests! I pity the Indians who follow this fool.”
The online debate continued throughout the day, drawing reactions from supporters and opponents of both sides.
The trailer of ‘Dhurandhar’ was released on 18 November. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on December 5.
