Jennifer Lopez is juggling movie releases, family time and “challenging relationships” like a pro amid her ongoing divorce from Ben Affleck! On November 5, the Atlas actress attended the screening of her upcoming film Unstoppable. During a question-and-answer session after the premiere, Lopez gave hints about what her life has been like.
The actress, who plays Judy Robles, the mother of NCAA wrestling champion Anthony Robles, described how the film is “relatable” to women who have to deal with the difficult issues of “being a mother.” It’s something Lopez – who is mom to 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with her ex-partner Marc Anthony – can relate to.
The On the Floor singer revealed that she became well acquainted with Judy through the experiences she shared with her. Lopez “wanted (Judy) to feel really safe with me when sharing details.” Whenever she spoke to Judy’s children, they had nothing but praise for their mother. “They say, ‘My mom is so positive, she’s so nice,'” JLo said.
However, she noted that Judy struggled behind closed doors and managed to act bravely for her children. “There was a completely different story out there that she was living there, which you hide from your kids, you protect your kids from,” he said.
After their conversation, Lopez decided that she not only wanted to play the mother her children knew growing up but she also wanted to portray her struggles and show how she found her strength. . The Hustlers actress said that she did not want her performance to be a reflection of herself. “I wanted them to see Judy in it,” she insisted. Unstoppable, produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s company, Artists Equity, revolves around the life of disabled wrestling national champion Anthony Robles.
According to the official synopsis, the film “focuses on the life of wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and won a national championship in 2011 while competing at Arizona State University.”
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Justice League actor Ben Affleck praised his would-be ex-wife for her performance in the film. “Jennifer is fantastic,” he said. “I have to say the entire cast and everyone behind the scenes has been fantastic and wonderful.”
Unstoppable will be released in theaters on December 6, 2024.
