Staring around € 1700 at the price point available in Europe, Magic V5 competes with heavy hits such as Galaxy Z fold 7 of Samsung, while providing separate hardware benefits. In particular, it claims a large battery, bright performance, better water resistance (IP58/IP59), and a high-resolution periscope zoom camera. Its twisted thin also claims to have a boast of rights at 8.9 mm of Jade fold 7 – 8.8 mm vs Samsung – although the measurement debate persists.
Nevertheless, Magic V5 is not without its trade-off. Limited market availability of honor, especially in the US, and comparatively minor software support and ecosystem compared to Samsung, remain important ideas. However, for users who prefer state -of -the -art hardware, smooth design and performance, the magic V5 stands out as a hypnotic and perhaps disruptive option.
In the following sections, we will dive deep into hardware and software experience, and see if this slim powerhouse lasts up to its sublime capacity.
Out of the box
Honor Magic V5 ship in a grand two-tukra package. It is made of cardboard, but with some soft, rubber on top. The whole thing is gray and looks very premium with embossed lettering. In terms of material, the box is made of cardboard, but it is very thick and protective. Inside is a cradle for the phone, made of plastic.
Despite the large-scale box, our unit came with a Type-C cable only with a USB Type-C. The box has no charger (which will probably be the case for the retail units of the European Union), but also a protective case inside, although we did not find one.
