Honey Singh denies going to rehab, admits not giving time to ex-wife: Fame got hold of me
Rapper-singer Honey Singh recently opened up about his journey of recovery from drug addiction. In an interview with The Lallantop, he admitted to neglecting his ex-wife Shalini Talwar and family.

Speaking about the devastating effects of drug addiction on his life, the singer also clarified that he never went to a rehab centre.
Honey Singh said in an interview to India Today’s sister channel, the lallantopvehemently denied rumours that he had gone to a rehabilitation centre, saying he denies the rumours. When asked about his ex-wife Shalini’s reaction to his drug abuse, Honey Singh said, “Our relationship was not very good at that time. There was distance between us because I used to travel a lot. Everything was fine for the first 9-10 months of our marriage. But then success and fame got to my head. When that happened, I ignored my family and lost myself completely in money, fame, addiction and women. I did some terrible things. I had almost left Shalini and forgotten about them (family).”
In the same interview, the ‘Brown Rang’ singer was asked who introduced him to drugs. He replied, “Some names, some very big and influential names. They made fun of me. I was so badly addicted to these substances that I was always high. Most of the time, I was oblivious to myself and my surroundings.”
The singer said, “I insist that I never needed rehab to overcome my addiction”, adding, “I had quit alcohol, hashish and other drugs, told my family about my mental health problems that needed immediate attention and treatment. My family warned me about possible legal repercussions from international law firms due to my busy schedule, but I prioritised my health and refused to work until I received proper care. The recovery process took seven years.”
When asked about the strangest rumour he has heard about himself, Honey Singh said, “While touring the US with Shah Rukh Khan, I returned with severe symptoms. Despite being busy with my show ‘India’s Raw Star’ in Mumbai, I remember during one of the tapings I broke down in tears and suddenly left. I went back to my home in Noida for some time.”
