Dune: Prophecy is one of the latest attractions for those who love fantasy stories with violence and royal battles. Well, there are already other shows that share the same aspect of fantasy, exactly the same, with House of the Dragon.

This year, Game of Thrones prequel Season 2 received a lot of praise, featuring a lot of elements also seen in Dune: Prophecy.

Now, since the series has just premiered its first episode, let’s take a look at what other similarities Dune: Prophecy shares with House of the Dragon.

Meanwhile, it is also important to know that considering the timeline and the world in which it is set, Dune: Prophecy was also previously called a Game of Thrones clone.

In the recently released episode of Dune: Prophecy, we learn that the series is taking place 116 years after the War of the Machines and 10,148 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, the leader of the Dune film franchise.

As we remember, it is similar to House of the Dragon; The series takes place 100 years after the war and 172 years before Daenerys Targaryen’s birth.

Another example that reminds us of HOTD in Dune: Prophecy is that both shows display this information after the opening sequence. However, in Dune it’s much longer and gorier.

Similar to HOTD, Dune: Prophecy reveals that Mother Superior Valya Harkonnen has her sights set on the throne, in order to build the Imperium towards an ideal future.

Travis Fimmel stars as Desmond Hart, a violent fanatic soldier who also has a plan of his own and reminds us of Daemon Targaryen.

Additionally, Mark Strong’s Emperor Corrin is similar to King Viserys, as he shares the characteristics of a mild-mannered individual who makes extreme decisions for the greater good.

Additionally, Dune: Prophecy has already featured Yves, a young princess who sleeps with her keeper, which again reminds us of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Kristen Cole.

Another great example is that of a happy marriage in Dune: the prophecy turned into a shocking and violent event, similar to Rhaenyra and Lenore’s wedding.

With all of these things in common between the two, Dune: Prophecy keeps the audience in check, while still taking a slightly unique approach.

Watch Dune: Prophecy on HBO/Max with new episodes Sunday nights at 9 p.m.
