Rick and Morty star Spencer Grammer is saddened that his stepfather Dr. Bill Skinner is no longer in this world. On July 8, he posted the sad news on Instagram along with a heartfelt tribute to him.
a loving tribute
In her post, Spencer expressed deep feelings about her stepfather. “I never speak too openly about my personal life,” she wrote. She praised her stepfather, saying he taught her to love unconditionally. Spencer has known him since she was five years old and he became a father figure to her when he married her mother, Doreen Alderman.
Even when Dr. Skinner broke up with Alderman, he remained a rock in Spencer’s world. He always supported her cause; he listened to her when she had something to say and believed in what she did. She said, “He left us this week and we are heartbroken. I wanted to spend many more years with him.”
Spencer shared a selfie of them together to commemorate their last moments together. She stressed the importance of spending time with loved ones, saying that sometimes she forgets to take pictures with the people who mean the most to her.
A deep loss and family bonding
Spencer said he felt a deep loss. “A part of me is missing now. Really missing.” His acts of kindness and generosity touched the lives of many people, for which Spencer thanked him.
She acknowledged her presence throughout this time before ending her post by admitting that she hasn’t always been the perfect daughter, but “I’m so grateful to have known you. I will miss you so much.”
Spencer is Kelsey Grammer’s eldest child. Their relationship has had its ups and downs over the years, especially when Kelsey divorced Doreen when Spencer was just a child. However, they have mended their relationship over time.
In 2022, Kelsey told People that starring alongside her ex-wife in Lifetime’s movie 12 Days of Christmas Eve helped them reconnect. As a child, Kelsey regrets not being able to be with Spencer due to his very busy work schedule.
He added: “I’m sad about that, but I’m also grateful that we have the opportunity to right our wrongs.” Spencer’s tribute to Dr Bill Skinner is a heartbreaking loss and one that we should treasure our people while they’re still close to us.
