She clarified the rumors surrounding her Fool’s Gold co-star when fans asked her about the same.

On the July 17 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen , the 45-year-old actress responded to a long-standing rumor about her former colleague’s body odor.
Host Andy Cohen read a question from fans who wanted to know if she asked McConaughey to wear deodorant while filming Fool’s Gold. Hudson denied this and said that neither she nor McConaughey used any deodorant. However, she did agree that she could smell McConaughey from a distance, with how close they got during filming.
“We’re naturals,” Hudson explained.
How did the rumor about Matthew McConaughey’s fragrance start?
It is possible that this rumor started with McConaughey himself. He once mentioned in an interview with Playboy that Hudson often recommended him a salt rock so he could use it to get rid of the smell. This happened when the two filmed How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. He never took her advice. However, Hudson laughed it off, noting that they are both proponents of natural living.
McConaughey hates deodorant. According to him, he hasn’t used any deodorant for decades. He also said that his mother and other women important to him have never had a problem with his natural scent.

He immediately responded, “A man. I haven’t worn deodorant in 20 years.”
Yvette Nicole Brown, who worked with McConaughey in Tropic Thunder, also explained what it was like to work with him. She was really curious about his smell. According to the outlet, she concluded that he had no odor, but rather smelled fresh, “like granola and the good life.” She said Matthew McConaughey’s scent is sweet, natural.
