Courtney Love, known for her roles in Trapped, 200 Cigarettes and her brief music career, revealed that the artist she would love to collaborate with is diss track extraordinaire Kendrick Lamar. During her interview with The Standard, the actress admitted to having a “mad crush” on the Money Trees singer.
“I would love to work with Kendrick Lamar. I have a huge crush on her,” she admitted. Love also expressed her desire to write a song with Lana Del Rey. The comment was ironic considering her previous comments on the Summertime Sadness hitmaker. She added that she “doesn’t like “Since Lana covered John Denver’s song” and “She should really take seven years off.”
Love further teased that she was happy that Del Rey was on her Honeymoon Tour at the time, but she didn’t like people asking her to collaborate. “But every time some kid asks me to ‘collaborate’ with Lana — I mean come on!” He said kindly.
The Trapped actress asked people to “stop saying the word collab to someone who circles Gen X and Boomers?” Saying this increases his anger. “It’s the last thing I want to do,” Love insisted. Speaking to the outlet, she recalled the time when PJ Harvey ghosted her.
Love shared that she had a close relationship with Harvey and claimed to have “supported” him for decades. But when he sent her a message, she decided not to respond. “So I wrote to him about how rude he was. Her manager tried to smooth things over, but it’s not right,” Love recalled.
The singer said, “She hasn’t played rock music in 100 years! Her first five albums are very good; after that, she stepped into the art field.” In recent years, Love made headlines for his controversial comments on Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. She alleged that Swift is not “interesting” as an artist and that she does not like Beyoncé’s music.
However, she appreciated how the Single Ladies singer highlighted her community. “Black women are going to places where previously only white women were allowed to go,” Love said.
