Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who has served a prison sentence on sexual crimes, is suffering from cancer. He is back in the hospital for treatment. Weinstein is now seeking to prosecute New York officials, accusing them of long-term medical negligence.
Weinstein is preparing to take legal action against New York City Health & Hospitals and Bellevue Hospital. His representative told The Post in a statement, “We will not discuss Mr. Weinstein’s medical specifics, but we are appalled by the ongoing medical negligence shown by NYC Health & Hospitals and Bellevue. It is not the fault of Rikers, CHS ” Correctional Health Services of the city prison system), or the Bellevue doctors, whom Mr. Weinstein deeply respects.”
The statement added, “However, refusing to keep him in Bellevue during his trial is a grave mistake, jeopardizing his ability to attend his retrial. Mr. Weinstein has filed a lawsuit against NYC Health & Hospitals and Bellevue Because he has the right to reasonable care while in custody.” The Academy Award-winning producer’s specific medical problem is chronic myeloid leukemia, but multiple sources are not sure about his health prognosis.
Craig Rothfeld, who serves as Weinstein’s legal health care representative, was frustrated with how people speculated about his private health issues. Rothfeld told the outlet there was a need for confidentiality and did not provide further details about Weinstein’s situation.

It has been claimed by Weinstein’s spokesperson that this medical negligence may indicate ‘some broader agenda’ to provide inadequate health care to thwart his legal efforts, leading to “his own retrial.” “Capacity will be jeopardized.”
Weinstein is currently being prosecuted for two sex crimes charges that were recently overturned by New York’s highest court after Weinstein was convicted in 2020. On charges of rape and criminal sexual act, the Pulp Fiction creator was convicted in 2020 and sentenced to 23 years to life in prison. He received a 16-year sentence in Los Angeles in 2023 for the rape of an Italian model in 2013.
Convicted criminal Harvey Weinstein reportedly has more than 20 medical conditions, including diabetic retinopathy, coronary artery disease and spinal stenosis, and is dependent on numerous pills. His health deteriorated, requiring emergency heart surgery and several other hospitalizations, including chest pains that placed him in intensive care.
