Shakti Kapoor is celebrating his 72nd birthday today and wishes have started pouring in for him on his special day. It seems like the right time to remember one of the most special Instagram posts shared by the veteran star. When his daughter Shraddha Kapoor was busy promoting her film Tu Jhoothi Main Makka, Shakti had shared a video of him grooving to one of the hit songs from the film, Show Me The Thumka.
This selfie video is recorded by the Stree 2 actress, in which she can be heard saying, “Bapu, thumka laga rahe ho” while Shakti was already grooving to the song. Replying to Shraddha, the birthday boy is heard saying, “Beta thumka lagaa nahi mara jaate hai”. Following this, the father-daughter duo is heard shouting loudly, ‘Maaro thumka’.

Shakti Kapoor started his acting career in 1975 and he is still very active in showbiz. The actor has been a part of many of the most successful films including Qurbani (1980), Rocky (1981), Satte Pe Satta (1982), Himmatwala (1983), Tohfa (1984), Chaalbaaz (1989), Raja Babu (1994), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Judwaa (1997) and Coolie No. 1 (1995).
On January 12, 1982, Kapoor married Shivangi Kapoor, who is the elder sister of actresses Padmini Kolhapuri and Tejaswini Kolhapuri; the couple has two children, a son named Siddhant Kapoor and another named Shraddha. While Siddhant is also an actor who is finding his feet in the industry, the diva is already an established face in showbiz.
Shraddha Kapoor’s latest release, Stree 2, has broken several records and has become one of the biggest successes of recent times and an all-time blockbuster.
Speaking of the birthday boy, who was then known as Sunil Kapoor, the idea of changing his name came from Sunil Dutt. The veteran filmmaker had seen Kapoor and wanted to cast him as the villain in his son Sanjay Dutt’s debut film Rocky. However, Dutt felt Sunil didn’t live up to the dreaded villain image on screen and thus Shakti Kapoor was born.
