The drama between Halle Berry and her ex-husband Olivier Martinez is certainly turning heads after the judge initially concluded that the actress should pay her former partner a huge six-figure sum and be banned , after which he decided to continue the legal battle against them. As part of the custody battle for their son Maceo.
According to In Touch, the judge issued a temporary ruling on Martinez’s petition to award Berry more than US$360,000 to help pay his lawyers.
The Taking Lives star alleged that she needed the money to fight the acclaimed actress’ “draconian” request to remove her from legal custody of Maceo. Opposing his request, Berry demanded a payment of US$455,000 from her ex-husband.
According to the publication’s article, the judge believed the actress should pay Martinez US$271,052 in legal fees and US$6,015 in sanctions. Along with this, the court ruled that the actor will have to pay US $ 59,893 to the actress.
The judge determined that Martinez would have to pay US$217,174 after deducting the fees paid to the Catwoman star, according to the outlet.
Berry went ahead and filed a motion challenging this temporary ruling. Her ex-husband has lodged objections to some of the findings of the judgement.
The actress’ attorney said, “The court’s decision on sanctions against Halle in the amount of $6,015 violates Halle’s due process rights and is prohibited as a matter of law. Furthermore, the Court made factual findings that were incomplete, inconsistent, or contrary to the evidence presented.”
Some of the findings of fact, including the amount in dispute, are reportedly being challenged by the Academy Award-winning actress.
Earlier, the actress had accused Martinez of not attending parenting therapy sessions that were required as a part of their divorce settlement. According to the publication, she also alleged that she conspired with her former employees to influence Maceo’s therapist.
Martínez’s lawyer wrote, “After using his exceptionally high income for months to try to create a false story about (Olivier’s) collaboration with (Hailey), for which (Olivier) had every letter And there wasn’t money to respond to every email.”
The lawyer added, “He is now entitled to pay any and all amounts of his own attorneys’ fees for overruling (Olivier’s) rights and regaining sole decision-making capacity regarding important decisions in Maceo’s life.” “Trying to utilize his potential, a child spends 50 percent of his or her time with his or her parents.”
For the unversed, the pair tied the knot in 2013, but the union ended when they decided to separate in 2016.
