Google has introduced a new feature in Google Chat that lets users send video messages. This update is designed to make communications more flexible. Whether you’re part of a sales team, an executive making company-wide announcements, or a team member sharing project updates, this feature can save time and provide clarity.
How to use the video messaging feature
–Sending video messages in Google Chat is simple. Here’s how to do it:
–Open Google Chat and click the compose box where you would normally type a message.
–Select the Record button and select “Video Message”.
–Record your message, and once you’re done, you can preview it or re-record if necessary.
When you’re happy with your video, simply press send!
These video messages can be shared in direct messages (DM), group chats and Spaces. You can interact with them just like you do with text messages – by quoting, reacting or replying in a thread.
Right now, you can record and send video messages on the web, but mobile users can only receive and view them. Google plans to extend these features to mobile devices in the future.
Who can access this facility?
The video messaging feature will be available to many Google Workspace users. This also includes:
–Business Starter, Standard, Plus
–Enterprise Standard, Plus
–Essentials Starter, Enterprise Essentials
–non profitable
–Frontline Starter, Standard
The rollout of this feature began on October 7, 2024 for Rapid Release domains and will be available from October 25, 2024 for Scheduled Release domains. It may take up to 15 days for all users to see this feature in their Google Chat.
Video messages cannot be recorded on some systems such as ChromeOS, Linux, and Firefox at this time. However, Google is planning to add transcription services to this feature soon, which will make video messages even more useful by allowing users to read the messages.
Google’s new video messaging feature in Chat is all about convenience. This allows users to communicate more effectively, whether it’s for business updates, team projects or important announcements. With its gradual rollout, more people will soon have access to this feature, which will help streamline communication between teams and organizations.
