Google has trimmed its cloud workforce again, this time the design-centered teams have been cut in more than 100 jobs, as the company is difficult towards artificial intelligence and tightens the expenses in other areas. The first reported trimmed by CNBC influenced employees working in groups such as “quantitative user experience research” and “platform and service experience”. These are teams that usually collect data, survey and study how people use products so that engineers and designers can improve them. In some cases, the entire teams have been halved. Most of them are based in the US losing jobs, and some have been told that they have to find another role inside Google by the beginning of December.

The company has not commented on job cuts, but this step is part of a large pattern. Since the beginning of the year, Google has offered voluntary exit package in several departments including HR, advertising, hardware, marketing and finance. It has also reduced the layers of middle management by removing a part of observers who handled small teams.

CEOs are clear about the beautiful Pichai direction. In recent meetings, they have asked employees to adopt AI equipment in their daily work and warned that the company cannot depend only on adding more people to achieve things. According to CNBC, “In this AI moment, I think we have to complete more by taking advantage of this infection to run high productivity.”

The change of Google comes when it pays a record amount for AI Infrastructure. The native company Alphabet recently said that it would spend around $ 85 billion on capital projects in 2025, which was with its first target of $ 75 billion. The wholesale of this money is expected to go into the technique required to run new data centers and advanced AI models.

The story is not unique to Google. Across the Silicon Valley, the Big Tech firm is changing his workforce according to the AI ​​Rush. According to CNBC, Google’s overall employee number is still below the peak of 2023, when it appointed around 191,000 people.
