Google has introduced a new feature for its Gemini Advanced AI Chatbot, allowing it to remember and refer to previous conversations. Although this is a major upgradation in AI space, privacy-conscious users may have a problem with it. The good thing is that Google will give the option to disable this feature. The company has announced the update in its latest Google blog post, promising that it will make the future interaction smooth and more relevant. Tech giant says the new capacity will improve Mithun’s functionality and enable it to bring it back to previous chats.
Until now, users had to start each conversation with Gemini, as it could not mention prior discussions. However, with this latest development, users can now ask Mithun to be briefly presenting the previous chat or making it on earlier conversations without the need to manually discover through previous threads. For example, if you have discussed the solar system, you can simply ask Gemini to summarize that previous conversation, and it will miss the details related to your previous chat.
This new feature Mithun has moved beyond his opponent, Openai chat. While Chatgpt may remember the general details over time, it may not remember or briefly recall the interaction of the specific past on demand. Gemini’s ability to use previous interactions as a source allows it to provide more anticipated reactions, making it a competitive edge in the developed AI landscape.
According to Google, users will have control over their stored chat history, which will have options with options to review, remove or decide to maintain previous conversations. If necessary, users can fully disable this feature by reaching the Gemini Apps Activity Settings via Google’s “my activity” dashboard. In addition, Gemini would indicate that it is using previous chats to reaction or generate related materials.
The new memory feature for Gemini Advanced Subscribers on Google One AI premium plan is being rolled out in English. It is available on both Gemini web and mobile app. Google has announced a plan to expand this facility to other languages and make its Google work area business and enterprise available to customers in the coming weeks.
In the related news, Google has recently released its Reasoning AI model for its users, which is similar to Deepsek. Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking model is trained to break the signals in a series of steps to strengthen its logic abilities and give better feedback. This idea shows the process, so the users can see why it responded in a certain way, what were the beliefs of it, and the model’s line of logic detects.
