After releasing the Google Pixel 9 series in August, Google is likely working on releasing the Google Pixel 9a in the coming months. The company hasn’t officially announced launch details, but rumor has it that the new toned down version will arrive in March. This shouldn’t be a surprise, as the company has been releasing this variant for a long time. However, the Google Pixel 9a is expected to come in a larger size than the previous one. Rumor has it that it will be a significant upgrade. Let’s take a look at all the leaked information related to Google Pixel 9a.

Google Pixel 9a: What to expect?

The Google Pixel 9a is rumored to have a 6.3-inch Actua display with a 120Hz refresh rate. This means that the size of the phone will be the same as Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. However, the leaked images show quite a different design language. According to these images published by Android Headlines, Google may remove the camera bump and put the camera directly into the body. It is rumored to boast a sturdy body with rounded edges.

Talking about performance, it will be powered by Tensor G4 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. Previous leaks suggest that the phone will have a battery capacity of 5,000mAh with 18W charging speed. If this is true, then the upcoming Pixel 9a will have an 11 percent larger battery than the Pixel 8a. Since the phone is expected to be big, it’s easy to assume that the battery will be big too.

On the connectivity front, the Pixel 9a is rumored to include the Exynos Modem 5300, which is a reliable but older modem that was previously used in the Pixel 8 series. This modem, while capable, is a step down from the new Exynos Modem 5400 in the Pixel 9 series, which offers better efficiency and more advanced 5G features. However, for many users, the 5300 should provide stable network performance, making it a practical choice for daily tasks.

The leak also indicates that the phone will have a 48-megapixel primary camera and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera. It will also have a 13-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls.

The dimensions of the Pixel 9a have increased slightly due to the larger screen, now measuring 154.7 x 73.3 x 8.9 mm and weighing 186 grams. Interestingly, despite the increase in size, Google has managed to make the Pixel 9a lighter than the Pixel 8a, which weighed 188 grams.

Last but not least, the Pixel 9a may still be priced at $499 (roughly Rs. 42,000). This is the same price as the Pixel 8a. In India, the Pixel 8a was launched at Rs 52,999 for the 8+128GB model and Rs 59,999 for the 8+256GB variant.
