It is speculated that the series will include 4 devices: Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The company has confirmed that the high-end device will be deeply integrated with its AI, Gemini. It is also interesting to note that while the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is the second foldable device in the Google universe, it is the first one to come to India.

The Google event, Made by Google, is scheduled today (August 13) at 10 am PT (10.30 pm IST). In India, the company will launch its products on August 14. The livestream of the event will be available on Google’s official YouTube channel and its website.
Google Pixel 9 series: What to expect
During this launch, Google is going to replace its Pixel lineup with a major update, aside from the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro models. Four new devices are expected to launch: the Pixel 9 Pro XL, which will replace the Pixel 8 Pro; the Pixel 9 Pro, which will upgrade the Pixel 8; a more affordable Pixel 9 model to compete with Apple’s iPhones; and the stunning foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which represents a significant expansion of the Pixel brand.
Pixel 9: The standard Pixel 9 model is rumoured to feature a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and 12GB of RAM. This marks a significant boost to its camera capabilities, promising better low-light performance and higher-quality photos overall.
Pixel 9 Pro: The Pixel 9 Pro is expected to feature a 6.3-inch display, 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. The camera system on the Pro model is said to get significant upgrades, with leaks suggesting it will have a 48-megapixel telephoto lens and a 42-megapixel front-facing camera.
Pixel 9 Pro XL: In addition to these models, Google is expected to introduce the Pixel 9 Pro XL. This variant is expected to have a larger display between 6.5 and 6.9 inches, making it ideal for users who prefer a larger screen. The phone is also expected to have a Tensor G4 chip, Titan M2 security module, 16GB of RAM, and a 50-megapixel main camera with a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 48-megapixel zoom lens. On the front, the XL variant may have a 42-megapixel selfie camera and is expected to be priced around $1,099.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Google is also expected to unveil its second-generation foldable phone, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This model is expected to build on its previous model with a more refined design and improved functionality. It will likely share the Tensor G4 chip with the Pixel 9 series, which promises better performance and efficiency. With an 8-inch main display and a 6.3-inch cover screen, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold aims to offer a seamless experience whether it is used as a tablet or a phone.
Google Pixel Event: What else is special
Along with the Google Pixel 9 smartphone lineup, the company is also expected to release new wearables – Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2. While there is no official information for the same, leaks and rumours have said a lot.
Google Pixel Watch 3: The upcoming smartwatch is expected to come in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm, so as to suit a wider user base. Notable upgrades include a more vibrant 2,000-nit display, thinner bezels, and a more efficient battery with faster charging. Additionally, Google is rumoured to introduce advanced running metrics, further improving the watch’s fitness tracking features and providing users with a more comprehensive workout experience.
Google Pixel Buds Pro 2: Rumours suggest that Google will unveil the latest version of its wireless earbuds called Pixel Buds Pro 2, which will retain the signature egg-shaped charging case and in-ear design, but with new colour options like Raspberry, Mint, Porcelain and Haze. The next-generation earbuds boast of improved sound quality and battery life, building on Google’s reputation in the audio industry and offering users a better listening experience.
