The Google Pixel 9 series is set to launch in a few weeks and we are already inundated with several leaks and reports about the new series. According to these reports, the next-gen Pixel 9 series will include four variants: Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold — and this time Google is likely to bring its Fold for the Indian market. And what about the Pixel 9XL? While Google hasn’t officially confirmed, a new video is circulating online that shows the alleged first look of the Pixel 9 Pro XL and it looks somewhat similar to the Pixel 8a in terms of the boxy design.

TikTok user @pixo_unpacking, who has been sharing several Pixel 9 leaks, has shared a video that shows a design comparison between the older Pixel 8 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL. As per the video, both the devices have the same matte black finish and glossy side rails, which are also the same size. But unlike the Pixel 9 Pro, the Pixel 9 Pro XL has more rounded corners and flat side rails, which look more like Apple’s iPhones. Apart from the design, the video also reveals a change in the camera bar design. The Pixel 9 Pro XL has a matte finish on the camera bar, which no longer extends to the sides of the phone, but instead rounds off before meeting any of the edges.

Looking at the video, the Pixel 9 Pro XL looks promising but also confusing. You see, earlier reports suggested that the Pixel 9 XL might be slightly bigger in size than the Pixel 8 Pro but according to this video, there is not much difference in size. So is Google not keeping any difference between the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro XL?

Big confusion about the name of Pixel 9

Well, this time around, Google is likely to change its phone naming convention, probably because it wants the lineup to resemble the iPhone lineup. This means that there could be four phones – Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Unlike last year when we only got 2 Pixel phones – Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, this looks different. This means that we are getting an additional Pixel phone (the 9 Pro Fold is a rebranded Pixel Fold) and that is the Pixel 9. This also means that:

– The Pixel 8 will be replaced by the Pixel 9 Pro.

– The Pixel 8 Pro will be replaced by the Pixel 9 Pro XL.

— And the Pixel 9 is expected to be a more affordable Pixel, similar to last year’s iPhone 15 or this year’s iPhone 16.

And the most affordable Pixel, which should be the Pixel 9a, should arrive next year.

Or it’s also possible that everything we’ve heard through rumors and tech gossip isn’t true. This time Google is really hoping to surprise its fans and the tech media.
