According to a new report by Android headlines, Pixel 10 Pro folds are said to facilitate a thin hinge. A thin hinge, in turn, will allow Google to reduce the bezel size and fit into a larger display compared to the current 6.3-inch panel on the Pixel 9 Pro fold. The report states that the 10 Pro fold will come with a 6.4 -inch cover screen. For reference, it will make it 0.1-inch larger that we look at Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro folds, and even the upcoming Pixel 10 and 10 Pro is rumored to both of them 6.3-inch displays.
Interestingly, it is not just a cover screen that can get a size collision due to a thin hinge. The overall footprint of the phone is also expected to be slimmer. While the Pixel 10 Pro folded render shows a design similar to the Pixel 9 Pro fold, the actual dimensions may be slightly different, if these leaks are considered. For reference, the Pixel 9 Pro is just 5.4 mm thick when it is revealed and when it is folded 10.5 mm, with a weight of 257 grams. Depending on the leak, the pixel 10 Pro fold can be slimmer and lighter than its predecessor.
For durability, the report also mentions that the Pixel 10 Pro may come up with an IP68 rating for fold dust and water resistance. Now, it may not look like a big thing, with most Candibar-style phones-there is an IP68 rating for some time in flagship or mid-range. But the foldables have not reached that level. In fact, today the best dust and water resistance on any foldable is on Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, with an IP48 rating. In IP48, ‘4’ means that Samsung foldables are protected from 1 mm larger dust particles.
However, an IP68 rating would mean dust – protection in water immersion for 30 minutes from dust with dust – it should be placed on the equilibrium with standard flagship phones like Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro.
