The Google Pixel 10 series is still a few months away, expected to launch in the second half of 2025. But as always, details about the upcoming phone have started to surface online, giving us an early idea of what to expect next from Google. According to reports, the Pixel 10 series may include four different devices – Pixel 10 (codenamed Frankel), Pixel 10 Pro (codenamed Blazer), Pixel 10 Pro XL (codenamed Mustang) and Pixel 10 Pro Fold (codenamed Rango). . This lineup is exactly in line with the Pixel 9 series, which also includes four smartphones.
One of the biggest changes that is being talked about is the modem inside the Pixel 10. A recent report from Android Authority claims that Google may switch to a MediaTek modem instead of Samsung’s usual Exynos modem. More specifically, the Pixel 10 may use a MediaTek T900 modem, which has yet to be officially announced. The modem is said to be based on MediaTek’s M85 technology and will reportedly comply with 3GPP Release 17 5G standards. If this sounds technical, it essentially means that this modem can bring better 5G performance, faster connectivity, and better reliability.
Now, this move could be a big deal as Pixel phones have had modem-related issues in the past. Users often complain about weak signal strength, battery drain, and heating problems due to the Samsung Exynos modem. By moving to MediaTek, Google is probably trying to fix these problems and give users a better experience. Interestingly, the report also revealed that Google is considering using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem. However, for reasons still unknown, the company has opted for MediaTek instead.
The Pixel 10 series will reportedly be powered by Google’s new Tensor G5 chipset, which has already appeared on Geekbench. The chip appears to have an octa-core setup with one prime core clocked at 3.4GHz, along with five performance cores clocked at 2.86GHz and two efficiency cores clocked at 2.44GHz. The leaked listing also suggests that the Tensor G5 will come with 12GB RAM, and like the Pixel 9 Pro models, the Pixel 10 Pro may also get a 16GB RAM option. While the Geekbench test shows the chipset running Android 15, the Pixel 10 series is expected to launch with Android 16 out of the box. This isn’t surprising, as Google’s Pixel phones usually start with the latest version of Android.
