This new AI-powered tool is designed to automatically capture all the important points of your meeting, so that you can focus completely on the discussion without missing out on important details. After the meeting, these notes are neatly compiled in a Google Docs file and attached to a calendar event, making it easy for everyone in your organization to access them later.

What is the “Take notes for me” feature?

“Take notes for me” is a tool within Google Meet that automatically creates meeting notes, allowing participants to focus on discussions, collaboration, and presentations. After the meeting, these notes are saved in a Google Docs document, which is linked to the corresponding calendar event. Notes can be accessed by participants from the same organization, ensuring that important details are recorded and readily available for follow-up.

Once enabled, this feature captures the key points and summaries of the meeting in real-time. If someone joins the meeting late, they can join in with the “Summary so far” feature. After the meeting, the notes are sent via email to the meeting organizer and anyone who has turned on this feature, providing a convenient recap. If the meeting is also recorded or transcribed, these recordings and transcripts are linked within the notes document, providing a comprehensive record of the meeting.

The primary benefit of this feature is that it allows users to be more engaged in the meeting without worrying about missing out on important information. By automating the note-taking process, participants can focus on conversations and collaboration, knowing that AI is capturing everything in the background. This feature is especially useful for large or complex meetings where keeping track of discussions can be challenging.
Availability and setup

“Take notes for me” is available to Google Workspace customers who have Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or the AI ​​Meeting and Messaging add-on. For admins, the feature is turned on by default and can be managed at the organizational unit (OU) or group level. End users can enable it in advance via a calendar invite, ensuring meeting notes are captured automatically.

The feature will be rolled out gradually, taking up to 15 days for all users to see it. It is being made available to customers in Rapid and Scheduled Release domains.
