Google is giving more power to its Circle for search. This feature allows users to quickly find information by circling, typing, or tapping anything visible on their Android screen. It was initially launched with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series last year. Now, as Samsung unveils its new generation of flagships – the Galaxy S25 series – Google has announced new improvements to the Circle to Search feature, which will make the new Galaxy phones even smarter.
During the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung revealed that it has doubled down on its collaboration with Google. Following this partnership, Google’s Gemini AI will be the default smart assistant on all three new Galaxy S25 devices – Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra. But not only this. Bringing more AI powers to Galaxy devices, Google has announced new upgrades to the Circle to Search feature, including AI overviews and one-tap interactions.
AI overview for visual searches
The most notable addition to Circle Two Search is the integration of AI Overview. First, this feature will generate a list of Google search results based on the selected content. The new update will now provide users with AI-generated summaries of topics for visual searches.
According to Google, these AI summaries will provide users with more context and deeper insights without needing to leave the app and search the web. For example, circling a photo of a dish on a plate will give a brief description of that dish and even its origin or related details. With this update, Google aims to provide users with a faster and easier way to use Circle for Search features and understand anything at a glance.
One-Tap Actions
Another upgrade to the Circle to Search feature is the addition of one-tap actions for recognized phone numbers, email addresses, and URLs on the subject of visual search. With this update, users will be able to directly call, email or visit a website without any additional steps.
First for the Galaxy S25 series
Like last year, Google is first rolling out these new upgrades to Circle Two Search with the Galaxy S25 series. However, this feature will not be exclusive to Galaxy phones. With the launch of Pixel phones later in the year, the feature will be coming to Google’s own flagship devices. In fact, Google is planning to roll out the enhanced Circle to Search experience on all Android devices that support this feature. Initially, these updates will be available in English, with the possibility of expansion to other languages in the future.
