Google has introduced four exciting new features for Chrome users on iPhones and iPads, aimed at making browsing easier and more efficient. These updates are designed to improve the overall experience, whether you’re searching, shopping, or saving content. Here’s a closer look at these new features:
Google Lens with image and text search
Now, iPhone users can use Google Lens in Chrome to search with both images and text at the same time. Previously, Lens allowed users to search using only a single image. Now, by adding text, you can refine your search for more specific and relevant results. Whether you want to ask a question about an image or narrow your search by adding details like color, this feature helps deliver more accurate information. To use it, simply tap the camera icon in the Google search bar.
Save files and pictures to Google Drive and Photos
To help manage storage on your iPhone or iPad, Chrome now allows you to save downloaded files and images directly to Google Drive and Google Photos. If you want to store a file in Drive, select the Google Drive option when saving. The files will be stored in a new folder called “Saved from Chrome”, freeing up space on your device. For images, simply long-press the image and select “Save to Google Photos.” Remember, you need to be signed in to a Google Account to use these features.
Shopping Insights for Better Deals
For users in the US, Chrome now offers a Shopping Insights feature to help you find the best deals when shopping online. If Chrome detects a good deal on a product, you’ll see a “Good deal now” notification in the address bar. By tapping it, you can view details like price history, price tracking, and other purchasing options. To use this feature, make sure you’re signed in to Chrome and the “Improve search and browsing” setting is turned on. Google is planning to expand this feature to more regions soon.
View maps of addresses with one tap
Chrome just got easier to navigate. When you view an address on a website, you can now tap the underlined address to see a mini-map of that location directly within Chrome without having to switch to Google Maps. This feature is being rolled out gradually and will be available worldwide in the coming months.
These new features are aimed at making Chrome more useful for iPhone and iPad users, offering better search, storage options, shopping tools, and navigation within the browser. Stay tuned for more updates in the near future.
