After facing stiff competition from big Hollywood contenders, filmmaker Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light lost the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Feature category. Director Jacques Audiard’s musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez won the award.
In 2024, Everything we imagine as light has made history It was the first Indian film in 30 years to participate in the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was awarded the Grand Prix.

Payal Kapadia’s directorial debut competed with acclaimed films like Emilia Perez, The Girl with the Needle, I’m Still Here and The Seed of the Sacred Fig in the Best Motion Picture category.
The Golden Globes 2025 will honor the best in film and television, with Netflix leading the nominations across both mediums.
Hosted by Nikki Glaser, the prestigious awards ceremony is being held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
The film has received tremendous praise, including the top spot in the BFI’s Sight & Sound poll for Best Film of 2024, the Asia Pacific Screen Awards Jury Grand Prize, Gotham Award for Best International Feature, and more.
The film, which is currently streaming on Disney+Hotstar, stars Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, Hridhu Aaron and Azis Nedumangad who have delivered powerful performances in pivotal roles.
