Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia and her film All We Image as Light has given Indians another reason to feel proud. The film has garnered two prestigious nominations at the Golden Globes 2025. It garnered a Best Director nomination for Payal Kapadia. It will compete against world-renowned films in the Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language and Best Director (Motion Picture) categories.
The nominations for the Golden Globes were announced on December 9, 2024, and Payal Kapadia won another recognition for her film. Expressing her excitement at the news, she told India Today Digital that she felt very honored and urged audiences to watch it in theatres.
She said, “I am deeply honored by this nomination and grateful to the HFPA for this recognition. This is a celebration of everyone who worked so diligently on the film. To everyone in India, All We Imagine As The Light is still in theaters – please watch it and support us.”
The film was released in Indian theaters on 22 November and has received positive reviews with widespread criticism for Payal. Apart from its domestic success, the film has also impressed the international market, and fans are excited about the upcoming Golden Globes.
On the other hand, this is not the first time that All We Imagine as Light has achieved significant achievements on a global scale. Earlier, it had created history by becoming the first Indian film to win the prestigious Grand Prix at Cannes 2024.
Additionally, it received the Jury Grand Prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards and Best International Feature at the Gotham Awards. A few days ago, the film won the Best International Film award at the New York Film Critics Circle, and its cast was happy with the achievements.
All We Imagine as Light stars Divya Prabha, Kani Kusruti, Hridayu Haroon, Chhaya Kadam and others. It has a unique and thought-provoking story based on an important topic. The film depicts the struggle and pursuit of dreams in today’s times as its characters receive a brutal reality check from society.
