Gold biscuits for wedding saree, bizarre things Indians left behind in Uber cab
According to Uber’s 9th annual Lost and Found Index, Mumbai has separated Delhi as the most forgetful city in India.
After endless shopping and after scouting online, you finally do zero on your right wedding saree – to forget it in only one cab? Looks like a nightmare, isn’t it? Now, imagine leaving a gold biscuit behind in a cab. Sweating, already? This is not the story – Uber users actually forgot these items in 2024, according to the company’s annual Lost and Found Index.
Sure, it is common to forget everyday imperatives like bags, purses, keys, glasses and earphones. But some people forgot the next level – wheelchair, 25 kg of ghee, a havan kund and yes, leaving behind that wedding saree and gold biscuits.
Forgetting such items in a street -hilled vehicle – there is no way to get them back – a real shocker. But Uber (like most travel apps) offers users an in-app option to help track their lost goods.
Mumbai emerged as the city most ‘Bhulakkad’, followed by Delhi. Fast City convicted? Perhaps. According to the percentage of overall visits, the top 5 is the most ‘Bhulakkad’ city here.
- Mumbai
- Delhi NCR
- Pune
- Bangalore
- Kolkata
People from these cities may probably have one or two lessons from Hyderabad. In major cities, Hyderabad riders were at least likely to forget their objects.
By the way, the next time you’re going to a cab on Saturday, be additional warnings – Uber’s latest report shows that this is the most forgetful day of the week. Saturday and evening emerged as an extreme period to forget. Oh, the festival days are no less. The number of items left in the Ubers occurred during the festival days:
The most forgetful days of the year in 2024:

- 28 September (Saturday)
- May 10 (Friday, Akshay Tritia)
Meanwhile, here are the top 10 most common things that people forget in Uber cab:
- Backpack / Bag

Shiva Shailendran, Director – Consumer and Vikas, Uber India South Asia, said, “We are all there – that faceplm moment when we realized that we have forgotten a nutritional one -in -law in a cab. In Uber, in Uber, we have made it easy to recover the lost items with a few steps in our app.”
It is always a good idea that you be conscious of your luggage – keeping everything in a bag rather than to make many people really helps. And before stepping out, you can save you from a lot of trouble by habiting a quick double-check.
