Bhutan Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay today said at the NDTV World Summit that the Global South has confidence in India’s leadership and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi can resolve issues between Russia and Ukraine. Referring to the theme of the NDTV summit, he said, “The world needs India and I am very happy that you have recognized this century as India’s century.”

Earlier, responding to a question on how his years as a student in the US molded him, he said, “A better question would be how India molded me to serve my country. I was born in India. Born in Kalimpong, West Bengal in 1965, I studied in India for 11 years because we did not have enough schools in Bhutan. It’s okay because they taught us that we are able to go back home and serve our king, our country and our people.”

Lauding India’s fight against climate change, the Bhutan Prime Minister said, “India is a role model for the world, 1.5 billion people, you need energy to fuel that growth. But India is facing climate change.” He is not shying away from his responsibility to fight.”

Speaking on Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness, he said that Gross National Happiness is a development philosophy that emphasizes the happiness and well-being of our people as the main objective of development. “Gross national happiness recognizes that economic growth is important, but that growth must be balanced with social progress, environmental sustainability, cultural preservation and good governance,” he said.

Saying that the Bhutan government measures gross national happiness every five years, he said, “The objective is not to measure the happiness of the people. It is to measure the state of the country’s gross national happiness as people perceive it. Nine domains The questionnaire is divided into 33 variables and 150 questions. This index is increasing slightly, which shows that the gross national happiness of the country is increasing but it does not mean that we are the happiest in the world. Are happy people.
