As Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations continue in India, Instagram is giving us glimpses of the festivities in the lives of some of our favourite celebrities. Photos and videos from the past week have shown stars getting into the festive mood, decorating their homes with flowers, Diyan and other traditional ornaments. But this year, many Bollywood celebrities have not only brought Ganesh idols home but have also adopted an eco-conscious approach keeping in mind the environmental concerns associated with many festivals. Many of them chose the eco-friendly option by making Ganesh idols at home using clay. Here’s a look at some of the celebrities who chose the eco-friendly route this year:

1. Rajkumar Rao and Patralekha
Rajkummar Rao is enjoying the success of his film. Woman 2 Celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi in an eco-friendly way. A few days ago, the actor shared a picture on Instagram, featuring a clay Ganesha idol. The puja place at his home was decorated with roses and marigold flowers and the Lord was draped in a red veil. “Meet our super eco-friendly Ganpati Ji. Made at home by us. Ganpati Bappa Morya,” he wrote in the caption.

2. Ayushmann Khurrana and Tahira Kashyap
Ayushmann Khurrana shared a post on Instagram in which he was seen celebrating Ganesh Utsav with his wife Tahira Kashyap, son Virajveer and daughter Varushka. A video shows Tahira preparing a clay Ganesh idol with the help of a YouTube tutorial. The kids joined their mother in the fun session. The trio did not mind their dirty hands and created a cute idol using brushes and carving tools. The side note read, “Ganpati Bappa is hugging everyone. May you stay healthy and may your life be filled with happiness and prosperity.”

3. Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza
Following the family tradition, Riteish Deshmukh taught his sons Riaan and Rahyl how to make an "eco-friendly Ganesha at home". In a video shared on Instagram, the loving father sat on the floor with his kids. They all joined hands to make their own versions of the idol using clay. They also painted the idols with different colours. "Ganpati Bappa Morya. Ritual and honour of making eco-friendly Ganesha at home in Deshmukh house ImmersionRiteish wrote, "The children made their own Bappa and each Bappa was special."

4. Sonu Sood
Sonu Sood urged fans to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi but without harming the environment. Speaking to news agency ANI, the actor said, "We all should adopt eco-friendly ways to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi. We should not forget our environment while celebrating the festival. Bring an eco-friendly Bappa to your home."
