Gal Gadot was diagnosed with a blood clot in the brain during pregnancy: I wanted to live
Gal Gadot revealed she suffered a blood clot in the brain during her fourth pregnancy. After emergency surgery, she welcomed her daughter Ori and shared her story to raise awareness of rare pregnancy complications.

Actress Gal Gadot, best known for her role as Wonder Woman, recently shared an emotional account of the life-threatening complications she suffered during her fourth pregnancy. In a heartfelt Instagram post, along with a photo of herself Her newborn daughter, Ori, Gadot opened up about being diagnosed with a massive blood clot in her brain during her eighth month of pregnancy.
“This year has been one of intense challenges and deep reflection, and I’ve been struggling with whether or how to share a personal story. In the end, I decided to let my heart guide me. Maybe it’s my way of processing it all, of pulling back the curtain on the delicate reality behind the moments we share on social media. Most of all, I hope that by sharing, I can raise awareness and support others who may face something similar,” Gadot wrote.
Recalling the harrowing experience, the actor shared that weeks of debilitating headaches led him to undergo an MRI, which revealed a blood clot.
“In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain. For several weeks, I endured unbearable headaches that confined me to bed, until I finally had an MRI, which revealed the terrible truth. In an instant, my family and I were faced with how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the middle of a difficult year, I just wanted to stop and live,” she said.

Her condition required immediate medical intervention, which led to emergency surgery. Despite the uncertainty, Gadot gave birth to her daughter, Ori, whose name she described as a symbol of hope and light.
“Her name, which means ‘my light’, was not chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrives, she will be the light at the end of this tunnel waiting for me,” Gadot shared.
Expressing gratitude for the doctors at Cedars-Sinai Hospital and his recovery, he said, “Thanks to an extraordinary team of doctors at @CedarsSinai and weeks of dedicated care, I made it and started the road to recovery. Today, I have fully recovered and am filled with gratitude for the life I have got back.”
Gadot also stressed the importance of health awareness, especially in regards to cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT), the condition she was diagnosed with. “It is very important to listen to our body and trust what it is telling us. Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often have deeper meanings, and becoming attuned to your body can be life-saving,” she said.
Highlighting the rarity of the condition, Gadot said, “I had no idea that 3 in 100,000 pregnant women aged 30+ are diagnosed with CVT (developing a blood clot in the brain). It is very important to identify it early as it is treatable. While rare, it is a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step toward addressing it.
Concluding her post, Gadot hoped that sharing her experience might inspire others to prioritize their health. “If even one person feels compelled to take action for their health because of this story, it will be worth sharing,” he wrote.
American actor Amy Purdy reacted to Gadot’s post, commenting, “This photo is the epitome of a miracle. Thanks for sharing.” Many other fans of the actor also expressed their gratitude for his openness.
