From Sundar Pichai to Dario Amodei, what tech experts said at India AI Impact Summit 2026
The India AI Impact Summit saw some of the biggest names from the tech world, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, take the stage with Prime Minister Modi to talk about AI. Know here who said what.

The India AI Impact Summit saw some of the biggest names from the world of tech take the stage and talk about AI and its far-reaching potential, addressing India and the rest of the world. Shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India’s human-centric AI vision – HUMAN – technology giants from Google CEO Sundar Pichai to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei spoke about how AI can be a force for good and what they are saying about the many benefits it has to offer.
Let’s see what the tech giants said during the summit on Thursday.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai
Google CEO Sundar Pichai reiterated the company’s plans to build an AI hub in Visakhapatnam as part of a larger $15 billion investment in India. “This hub will have gigawatt scale compute and a new international subsea cable gateway that will bring jobs and cutting-edge AI to people and businesses across India,” he said.
Google has also announced a network of undersea fiber optic cables that could improve connectivity between India and the US.
Pichai acknowledged that AI could bring humanity to “the pinnacle of extreme progress.” However, he acknowledged that we will need to move forward boldly to make AI helpful for everyone. “AI can improve the lives of billions of people, and solve some of the toughest problems in science,” the Google chief said.
In addition to the rapid advancements in AI, Sundar Pichai said that governments will also play an important role as we move through this transformation. “Governments have an important role to play, including as regulators, setting important rules of the road and addressing key risks, and importantly, also as innovators in bringing AI into public services,” he said.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei
Dario Amodei began his keynote address by mentioning that AI has seen “rapid growth” over the past decade.
According to the Anthropic chief, we are moving towards a time when AI can be smarter than humans. “It is only a matter of years before AI models surpass the cognitive abilities of most humans for most things,” he said.
Amodei believed this could lead to what he calls “a nation of geniuses in the data center” – a group of AI agents that are more capable than most humans at most things and can coordinate at superhuman speed.
While Dario predicted that this could help cure diseases, and lift billions of people out of poverty, he acknowledged that there were risks. “I am concerned about the autonomous behavior of AI models, and the potential for their misuse by individuals and governments,” he said.
The Anthropic chief clarified that India will play a “central role” in the future of AI. “As a sign of our commitment, we opened an office in Bengaluru this week,” he said. The AI startup has also announced partnerships with Indian companies like Infosys.
Tata Group Chairperson N Chandrasekaran
Tata Group’s N Chandrasekaran made some big announcements during his keynote address at the summit. Tata Group chairperson revealed that the group is building its own operating system in India. He said, “Together with TCS and our other company Tata Communications, we are building AI operating systems for industries.”
This is part of Tata Group’s five-point agenda, which includes partnerships with OpenAI and AMD. According to N Chandrasekaran, the group will build a large-scale AI-optimized data center in partnership with OpenAI. “(The centre) will have an initial 100-MW capacity, which will expand to 1 GW,” he added.
Demis Hassabis of Google DeepMind
Demis Hassabis, head of Google DeepMind, claimed that AI will change the pace of technological progress. “(AI) is acting as a force multiplier for human ingenuity,” he said.
Hassabis stressed that the impact of AI could be “10 times” that of the industrial revolution. The Google DeepMind chief also mentioned that India played a big role, with the company’s office in Bengaluru. “India will truly be a powerhouse in AI across the world,” he said.
Talking about artificial general intelligence (AGI), Demis Hassabis said, “Maybe within the next five years (we will reach AGI).” While Hassabis acknowledged that this could make more discoveries and technological advancements possible, he said that we still don’t know what the future may hold. “We don’t yet have all the answers about how this technology will evolve,” he said.
