Francis Ford Coppola on allegations of ‘inappropriate conduct’: I’m not emotional
Renowned Hollywood director Francis Ford Coppola has been accused of behaving ‘inappropriately’ on the set of his film ‘Megalopolis’. Coppola has denied the allegations.
Director Francis Ford Coppola, best known for making the films The Godfather, has been accused of behaving inappropriately on the set of his new film, Megalopolis, starring Adam Driver. Coppola has responded to the allegations by saying he is ‘not sentimental.’
Speaking to the New York Times, the filmmaker said, “My mother told me that if you make advances towards a woman, it means you are disrespecting her, and the girls I had a crush on, I certainly did not disrespect them.” When asked about a photo that is being widely circulated on the internet in which he is seen kissing a ‘girl’, the director said that the photo was taken by the ‘girl’s father.’ “I am not sentimental. I am very shy,” Coppola further told the NYT.
An earlier report by The Guardian stated that unnamed crew members who worked on Megalopolis had said Coppola had abused them.
“Several sources also felt that Coppola may have been ‘old school’ in his behavior with women. For example, he allegedly pulled women over to sit on his lap. And while shooting a drunken nightclub scene for the movie, witnesses say, Coppola came on set and tried to kiss some of the topless and scantily clad female extras,” The Guardian reported.
