Thousands of players around the world are reporting problems accessing the game, with many saying they are stuck on the login screen despite repeated attempts. This disruption comes at a particularly frustrating time, right in the middle of the Christmas Eve holiday rush when player activity is typically at its peak.

Epic Games has acknowledged the issue and shared a fresh update on social media, saying, “Logins to Epic Online Services are recovering and players should be able to play again. We are continuing to monitor and will update you with any new information regarding this issue.” This update came about two hours after the company said that the issue had already been resolved, but players started experiencing similar login issues once again.

The outage appears to be global and is affecting Fortnite players on almost every major platform, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and even mobile devices. Instead of jumping into the Winterfest event and limited-time holiday mode, many users are facing authentication errors that lock them out before the game can even load.

According to Epic Games, the root of the problem lies in login and authentication services. This means that even if Fortnite’s game servers themselves are running, players still can’t proceed past the sign-in step. Since the problem is server-side, the usual fixes like restarting your console, reinstalling the game, or clearing the cache are not helping in most cases.
