The case was first filed in February 2024 and then re-registered in April.

Flipkart is no longer just a shopping app. The e-commerce platform has now launched five new recharge and bill payment options on its app. These new services include Fastag, DTH recharge, landline, broadband and mobile postpaid bill payments. These add to the existing options of electricity and mobile prepaid recharge. The company has collaborated with BillDesk, a top payment solution provider in India, to integrate these services with Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS).

Customers can now pay for the following:

—FASTag

—DTH Recharge

—Landline bill

—Broadband Payments

—Mobile postpaid bill

These additional features allow customers to manage multiple bill payments directly through the Flipkart app, making it a one-stop solution for shopping and bill payments.

To encourage the use of these new services, Flipkart is offering customers up to 10 percent discount with SuperCoins when they use Flipkart UPI for transactions. This limited time offer makes paying bills on Flipkart more beneficial.

Gaurav Arora, Vice President, Payments and Supercoins at Flipkart, highlighted the rapid growth in digital payments. He emphasized Flipkart’s goal to simplify digital payments and support the government’s vision of a cashless economy. “From purchasing products to digital payment needs, this growth has created a one-stop destination for customers,” he said.

Ajay Kaushal, Co-founder and Director, BillDesk expressed his excitement on providing BBPS services to Flipkart. He said that this partnership will help Flipkart customers to pay bills easily, get timely notifications and check the outstanding amount of bills of their preferred billers.
Recently, Flipkart has launched its UPI service, which provides a secure and convenient option for recharges and bill payments. Customers can earn rewards through Supercoins and cashback, and avail one-click and instant payment functionalities. This service enhances the overall digital payment experience for users, whether they are shopping online or paying bills.

With these new services, Flipkart is continuously innovating and providing a rich, efficient and beneficial customer experience.

According to Flipkart, in FY24, BBPS handled nearly 1.3 billion transactions across India, a number that is expected to more than double by 2026. With over 21,000 billers and 20+ bill categories on the BBPS system, over 70 percent of bill payments are now made electronically. Flipkart’s new services leverage this growing trend, offering a seamless electronic payment experience.
