First look poster of the historical epic Raja ShivajiThe film, directed by actor Riteish Deshmukh, was released on Thursday on the occasion of Shiv Jayanti. It also celebrated the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Along with the release, the makers have also confirmed the release date and complete star cast.
In the poster, Riteish is seen wearing full period-accurate armor and portraying the Maratha warrior-king on the battlefield. He is seen standing with a sword and a saffron flag, indicating the film’s focus on Shivaji’s struggle for Swarajya.

The caption accompanying the poster reads, “When darkness yearned for light, a flame rose high. When history grew silent, a young warrior chose to rewrite it. When a land yearned for honour, a son took an oath and Swarajya was born.”

Release date confirmed
A further release date was also included in the announcement. “#Rajashivaji In theaters from May 1, 2026. Jai Shivrai! (sic),” it said. The film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh, while the music is composed by Ajay-Atul.
Star cast includes Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan
The cast of the film was also confirmed in the poster with tags including Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Fardeen Khan and Bhagyashree.

Riteish, who directed and wrote the 2022 film Vedareturns to the helm Raja Shivaji. His previous directorial project was critically and commercially successful. It became the highest-grossing Marathi film of that year and the third-highest-grossing Marathi film of all time.
