Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, who is currently in the news for his latest film IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, recently discussed the box office failures of his previous films Bhed and Anek. While the former starred Bhumi Pednekar and Rajkummar Rao, Anek will release in 2022 with Ayushmann Khurrana.

while talking to Indian ExpressThe director revealed that he was discouraged after some of his films did not do well at the box office. “It discourages you from making any more films. It breaks your heart, breaks your spine. You lose confidence. You’re almost encouraged not to make the film again. But then something else convinces you enough to do it again, and then you look back and say, ‘No, it’s no big deal, it’s okay'”, he said.

Elaborating further, he said, “I had three consecutive hits and then I had two films that didn’t work and that was also a strange time, and I was making a dark film (Bheed) on the corona tragedy, and in black-and-white, it didn’t work. It’s okay.”

The filmmaker said that as long as someone is not ashamed of their film or its content, they should keep going. He said, ‘If you make ten films and five of them are successful, you are doing great.’

Anubhav’s latest directorial film, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, is currently streaming on Netflix.
