It is a whole body exercise that improves overall strength and flexibility. This asana increases blood flow to the brain and heart, promotes hair growth, brings flexibility to the cervical spine, relieves constipation, indigestion and functional disorders of the eyes.
It derives its name from a farming tool in India. It helps in stretching the entire body, strengthening the back, increasing flexibility in muscles and joint mobility, and improving balance, blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Therefore, it also helps in relieving stress and improving sleep.
This exercise strengthens the upper back muscles, which helps protect the shoulders from injury. It also improves posture, which in turn helps reduce stress on the spine and surrounding muscles, reducing long-term pain.
