We have grown up watching several alpha male characters in Bollywood films, be it Kabir Singh in Kabir Singh, Ranvijay Singh in Animal or Radhe in Tere Naam. Actor Farhan Akhtar recently shared his dictionary of alpha males, saying that a man doesn’t need to announce loudly that he is ‘Bob’.
During a recent podcast with YouTuber Raj Shamani, Farhan Akhtar was asked to define the concept of alpha males and how he views the whole idea around it. He explained that an alpha is a man who “wants to be at the top of the pyramid.”
Farhan said that every person is the “hero of his own story”. For him, the actor-filmmaker is his hero who decides what he wants to do in his life. Without naming names, Farhan jokingly said that he has a “great supporting cast” in his life.
Elaborating on how he views alpha males, the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor said, “Alpha means the leader of the group and for me it’s… how manly is that? The moment you get into the ‘I’m better than you’ discussion… that’s not something an alpha male needs to do to impress anybody.”
He said, “If I have to beat the drum and tell people that ‘I am Bob’… what if I am Bob, the boss, that you are going everywhere and telling everyone…people should feel this.”
The Don 3 director concluded by saying that we should treat people with respect and make them feel important in our lives.
Farhan Akhtar has acted in films like Rock On, Karthik Calling Karthik, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Dil Dhadakne Do, Luck By Chance, etc. His other films include Rock On 2, The Sky Is Pink, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Wazir.
He was last seen in the sports drama, Toofaan, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in 2021. Farhan is now directing Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani in the lead roles.
