Recently, there was news that a man claiming to be Janet Jackson’s manager has issued an unofficial “apology” on the singer’s behalf, according to her representatives. A man named Mo Elmasry spoke about the That’s the Way Love Goes singer’s statement to The Guardian.

Although Elmasry apologized in a statement on Sunday and claimed the singer was misinformed, the man’s words came after Jackson’s comments about Kamala Harris.

Speaking to a UK outlet recently, the State of the World singer questioned Kamala Harris’ Black origins. The singer’s words were published on September 21, 2024; meanwhile, her representatives have now claimed to PEOPLE that Elmasry is not Janet Jackson’s manager but Randy Jackson.

In her statement, Janet falsely claimed that Harris is not Black, which appeared to come from right-wing conspiracy theories.

During the interview, it was mentioned that Kamala Harris would become the first black woman to become president. To which Jackson said, “She’s not black. That’s what I heard. She’s Indian.”

When the reporter told the singer that Harris is both black and Indian, the singer further said that her father is white.

“That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a couple of days,” the Funny How Time Flies singer explained.

Further in the interview, Janet Jackson said she wasn’t sure the country was ready to welcome a “colored woman” as president.

The Any Time, Any Place artist said she doesn’t want to get into these discussions, adding that the transfer of power would be chaotic no matter how it happens.

According to a report by PEOPLE, Kamala Harris’ mother Dr. Shyamala Gopalan is Indian. Whereas, her father Donald J. Harris is a man who came from Jamaica to study economics at the University of California at Berkeley. This university became the place where the couple first met.

“My mother understood very well that she was raising two black daughters,” Harris candidly noted in her book The Truths We Hold, according to The Guardian.

The outlet also mentioned in its September 21 report that Harry’s father is a Jamaican economist. The report states that Donald J. Harris broke up with Gopalan when Kamala was just five years old.
