Exynos 2500 Unveiled: 3nm GAA, Cortex-X925, Bada GPU and Satellite Messaging Support

The Exynos 2500 was not ready for the Galaxy S25 series, but Samsung has put a finishing touch on it and made it official – just for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, which will debut on July 9.

EXYNOS 2500 is fabbed for better power efficiency on the latest 3Nm gate of Samsung and uses a new packaging–out wafer-level packaging or folp. This allows for a low chip thickness and better heat dissipation.

CPU is a 10-core design with Samsung 1+7+2 arrangements. In fact, this is 1+2+5+2 because the middle-core is divided into two to reduce power consumption. Samsung is claiming 15% more “large-core” performance.

A cortex-X 925 in the CPU is running at 3.3GHz, two fast cortex-e725 at 2.74GHz and five and A725 at 2.36GHz, as well as a pair of Cortex-A520 core at 1.8GHz. You can see a wide breakdown in the table below, as well as comparison with old Exynos 2400 and dimensions 9400 (non-Plus).

GPU is an Xclipse 950, the fourth generation of AMD-based graphics. These are based on RDNA 3 (eg on the previous chipset) and support the hardware-format rays trace. While it is based on the same architecture, XCLIPSE 950 is a large GPU with a large GPU with 8 work group processors (WGP) (WGP) (WGP) and 8 render backndar (RB, they contain rops). For comparison, Exynos 2400 GPU had 6 working group processors and 4 render backands. It should distribute 28% high FPS in ray tracing-competent game.

The latest chipset also brings a significant speedup for NPU – AI work can avail up to 59 tops, offering 39% higher than Acinos 2400. It should enable more features to work on the device. In terms of hardware, Samsung created a design with two 12k Mac Clusters (for 24K Mac), above the 17k Mac of the old chip.

Samsung supported the camera hardware as well as the AI-based image processing for the sensor up to 320MP-Exynos 2500. Photos can be shot with multi-layer noise reduction and dynamic range compression (DRC). The video block can record at 8K resolution up to 30 FPS. The video playback goes up to 8k 60fps and has AV1 decoding.

A significant upgradation to the underlying exynos modem is support for non-temperate network (NTN) capabilities-this opens the door to a satellite-based message. The 5G modem supports the latest 3GPP RL. The speed of 9.6GBPS for 17 and FR1 offers up to 12.1GBPS for FR2. Local connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. Samsung also says that it has improved analog GNSS interface (for global positioning).

The official Exynos 2500 pages reads “Product’s Status: Mass Production”. Samsung should have sufficient units for the new Galaxy Z Flip 7. Cheap Z Flip7 fe can use old exynos 2400.
