Vivek Oberoi is in the best phase of his career. While his upcoming film, Masti 4, is scheduled to release in theaters this weekend, he has an exciting list of releases in the coming days. In an exclusive podcast with Pinkvilla, the Krrish 3 actor shed light on various struggles in his life and how he eventually changed circumstances for himself.
When asked how he got his first film with Ram Gopal Varma, the actor shared a heart-touching story. Vivek said that he was struggling for two years. Every day, he would meet someone, audition and get rejected, but he kept trying. When he met Ram Gopal Varma for the gangster role in Company, he was rejected at first sight. Vivek said, “Ramu ji met me and told me that you look like a very educated polished chocolate boy type, and I need someone hardcore because this is a gangster film.”

Vivek quipped that he was thinking the film would be about a corporate house. “Knew the name of the picture was Company. Now, when people hear company, that’s what it sounds like, a polished suit-tie, that’s what it sounds like, isn’t it? Little did we know what kind of company it was becoming. When I understood, I said give me a chance. (I knew the name of the picture was Company. Now, crazy people think it’s a company, polished suit-tie. How do we know what kind of company it was? When I understood this, I said, give me a chance.) Give it.)
He further said, “I went and stayed in a slum. For 6 weeks, 7 weeks, I was going in a slum. I took a shed in the slum, kept going in the hut. Big rats used to come at night. Water had to be taken out from inside the drum. There was no bathroom, you had to use the Sulabh toilet, had to stand in the queue. I realized what the life of Chandu Nagre (the character in the company) would be like, how he smokes beedis, how he talks. Is.’

The actor, who will soon be seen in Ramayana, said, “Then when I went to Ramu ji, I became that character because I didn’t know whether he would let me audition or not. So I dressed up as the character. I entered his house with a lot of pictures. He had made up his mind to celebrate it today.”

He further added, “So I entered, smoking a beedi, like a gangster would enter, sitting on a chair and keeping the pair on the table, slippers on both the tables. At the end of the day, he said, great audition. I have never seen an audition like this. At the end, Anahoni said, you are doing my film.”

After this Vivek Oberoi told RGV that he is the son of Suresh Oberoi. Ramu was shocked and took him straight to his father’s bungalow and told him that he was signing this film. RGV asked for a Rs 10 note from Suresh ji and he gave it to Vivek as a token amount. Seeing this, tears of joy came to his father’s eyes and he was filled with pride.
