Sohum Shah denies rift with director Rahi Anil Barve, shares Tumbbad 2 update
Tumbbad actor-producer Sohum Shah clarified that despite rumors suggesting the contrary, filmmaker Rahi Anil Barve remains an important part of his life.
Tumbbad actor-producer Sohum Shah has dismissed speculative reports of possible differences with filmmaker Rahi Anil Barve. Speaking to India Today Digital, Soham said that Rahi is an important part of his life. Speculation began when Rahi shared an Instagram post announcing her departure from Tumbbad 2.
“There is no issue whatsoever. We have been trying to make Tumbbad 2 for a long time,” Sohum Shah said, adding, “We were not able to understand the script in the writing stage. We are working with Yogesh Chandekar and Monica O My Darling, the writers of Andhadhun. At last we have found it. As for Rahi, he is working in mega shows like Gulkand Tales and Rakta Brahmanda. He has been working on those big projects for the last few years.
In the post, Rahi mentioned his desire to create a trilogy and revealed plans to start the next chapter, Paharpangira, next year. The filmmaker also wished Soham and director Aadesh Prasad all the best to take the Tumbbad franchise forward. The post led many to speculate that Soham and Rahi had a falling out, resulting in the latter’s exit from the much-awaited sequel.

Stating that there was no result, Soham said, “Recently, we did a screening and Rahi was there. He was the one who designed the look of Vinayak (his character). Whenever we are making Tumbbad 2, And whenever we need him, he’ll be there. And I think it’s the other way around, because whenever he needs me, I’ll always be there for him.”
“Raahi is an important part of my life. It’s not like we were friends who started working together. We met as colleagues and then became friends. He is the person who inspires me to do bigger projects. He wants me to play alpha male parts,” Soham said. He is the one who has shown this kind of trust in me.”
We further asked the actor-producer to share an update on Tumbbad 2 – “We have finalized the story and that’s all I can say. We will start shooting for it soon. The team warned me not to talk much. Has given.” “We have managed to complete the circle with the re-release of Tumbbad and it doing well in theatres,” Sohum Shah said with a smile.
