Exclusive: Siddhant Chaturvedi says PR’s perception game is ‘hurting Bollywood’
Siddhant Chaturvedi criticises Bollywood’s PR game in an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in during the promotions of his new film ‘Yudhra’.

Siddhant Chaturvedi is all set for his upcoming film ‘Yudhra’. Recently, one of his comments from a few years back has resurfaced, thanks to Ananya Panday’s new show ‘Call Me Bae’, where it has been used as a joke. During the promotions of Yudhra, Siddhant spoke exclusively to India Today. Clarifying his intention behind the statement on Panday, he also spoke about the PR game, claiming it is harmful for Bollywood.
Talking about how the industry is working these days and his work, Siddhant said, “There are a lot of market forces at work right now. There is a lot of PR which I am also understanding.”
He further added that the perception created by PR is harming Bollywood. “Even if you play an important role, you can be left behind by someone else’s PR. It’s the perception game right now that’s harming Bollywood. It’s all perception nowadays. There’s no real seriousness or substance to it, and you can manipulate that through your PR and sometimes looks. To me, there’s no novelty or credibility to it and I don’t want to do anything like that because I want to bring credibility and commerce to the table and that’s something that’s difficult to achieve, but I’m trying. I’m very ambitious,” he said.
The theory also stated that “Where our dreams are fulfilled, their struggle begins (The point at which we think our dreams are fulfilled is where their struggle begins)” comment, which was recently mocked on Call Me Bae.
“People have started calling me arrogant, especially after a statement I made at the Actors Roundtable,” Siddhanth said during the interaction, referring to the comment he made on Ananya Panday. “Honestly, it’s not arrogance, it’s just overconfidence. I think it’s hard to survive in this industry if you don’t speak up for yourself. Chances are that other people will put pressure on you from time to time if you don’t know your worth and value. Sometimes, it’s important to stand on your own spine and it may come across as condescending or overconfident, but that’s the fuel that keeps me going in life,” he added.

Clearing the misconceptions about himself, Siddhanth said, “I come from a very simple background. I live with my family and I am grateful for the love I have received, but sometimes you just have to say what you feel. You can’t keep it inside you because there are certain forces that are playing on top of your head. You can’t succeed without climbing that chamber and cutting the rope like The Dark Knight. I am also trying to get out of that pit by cutting the rope. I am still in that pit and I can see the light and I think it will take me closer to what I feel.”
Siddhant Chaturvedi will be seen in the film ‘Yudhra’ with Malavika Mohanan. This film will be released on 20 September.
