Did you know that Nawazuddin’s initial reaction to the script of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ was not positive? In an exclusive chat with IndiaToday.in, the actor opened up about his relationship with Anurag Kashyap and told us why he initially dismissed the film’s script as ‘rubbish’.

“With great difficulty only five dialogues were written for me and Manoj Bajpayee had some random dialogues. But when we went to the set, Anurag A beast woke up inside me Nawazuddin said, “The beast inside Anurag had woken up. The way he started writing the story on the spot, the film got made in the same way. No one had a script for the film before this. Anurag had a vague idea in his mind, based on which he decided to make the film.”

He further added, “Initially, the shoot didn’t take place for two or three days due to financial reasons. Later, Anurag asked us to go and sit near a pond. He made Huma (Qureshi) and me sit there, and we went through what I had said during the workshop, and that’s how that iconic scene was shot. The next day, he wrote some more dialogues for four or five actors on a piece of paper, showed them from a distance, and asked them to act. So that was the process of shooting. But, improvising on the set became a habit for me because of Anurag.”

He watches his actors very carefully and brings out the best in them. As an actor-director pair, we are a wonderful duo.” Pair There is no doubt that I love (Jodi) very much and I love her very much as a human being.
