Mohanlal recently hit the big screen with his film Barrows and is lined up for multiple releases in 2025. Recently, the legendary actor was featured in an interview with Pinkvilla, where he provided his insights about L2: Empuraan directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran. ,
In his candid response, the actor said, “As we have already mentioned, L2: Empuraan is a trilogy. We are also planning a third sequel. The thing is, it all depended on the success of the first film.
“See, a director has a big responsibility and if he is confident with the story, script and actors, he will keep trying. In such a situation, I think Prithviraj Sukumaran can bring a good film. He is very good,” the actor concluded.

For those unaware, L2: Empuraan is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster flick Lucifer, which starred Mohanlal in the lead role. The film, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, tells the story of Stephen Nedumpalli, a politician who is wrongly accused by his enemies of playing political tricks.
However, things take a turn for the worse when the story turns out to be quite different from what everyone expected, revealing the existence of Khureshi-Abram and his notorious crime syndicate.
As the sequel film is set to release on the big screens on March 27, 2025, the film will be based on the consequences of what happened after the end of Lucifer. It is also being said that this film will be a prequel.
With Mohanlal reprising his role from the first film, the sequel stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Saniya Ayyappan, Saikumar, Baiju Santosh, Fazil and many others in lead roles.
Moving on, Mohanlal recently hit the big screen this year with the film Barrows, which marked his debut as a director. The children’s fantasy film features the actor as a spiritual guardian who guards a hidden treasure that is to be entrusted to a descendant of the da Gama clan.
Apart from this, the superstar will also be seen on the big screen in the film Thudrum on January 30, 2025. Directed by Tharun Murthy, the film stars Shobhana in the lead role.
