Exclusive: Mithun Chakraborty, Jailor 2 to join Superstar Rajinikanth

In a casting coup that promises to set the screen, Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty is fully prepared to share screen space with superstar Rajinikanth in ‘Jailor 2’. The shooting of the sequel starring director Nelson Dilipkumar is currently progressing at a fast pace.
A source close to Vikas today confirmed India that Mithun would be involved in shooting with Rajinikanth later this week. Allegedly, he will play a full role, which is important in the film’s story.
This will mark a rare crossover between the two icons of Indian cinema. Earlier, Rajinikanth made a special presence in Mithun’s two films. One was in Hindi (‘Bhristachar’, 1989) and another in Bengali (‘Bhagya Devta’, 1997). Gemini’s entry into ‘Jailor 2’ is important for several reasons.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the ‘jailer’ was released in 2023 and became a box-office jugronot, earning more than Rs 600 crore worldwide. A retired jailer, a retired jailer, got a significant praise for Rajinikanth’s depiction of Rajinikanth to force a retired jailer to take action. The film’s power-packed cameo from Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff further increased its appeal, making Rajinikanth one of the biggest hits in recent years.
Currently being shot in Chennai and in many places in India, ‘Jailor 2’ has promised to pursue high-octane and stylish action that made the first film a global hit.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is currently riding high on the success of his latest release, ‘Cooli’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraja. Released on August 14, the film broke the initial day record with a collection of Rs 151 crore worldwide. ‘Cooli’ crossed the Rs 200 crore (NET) mark before Rs 400 crore globally in four days.
