Madhuri Dixit’s many iconic and famous songs include her classic song, Ek Do Teen from the film Tezaab released in 1988. Speaking to us recently, the actress recalled the director telling her that he wouldn’t be able to take close-ups of her as she was ‘tired’ during the shoot.
In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Madhuri Dixit recently shared her memories from the song Ek Do Teen from Tezaab. Looking at the still of her song, the actress said with a smile, “Everyone knows this song.” He further added, “Yes…it’s Ek Do Teen, which is still played. I’m very lucky that I still have that song.”
Dixit acknowledged how this song is still the soul of every club, party and every Ganpati. Additionally, ask about a memory associated with a particular outfit that has acquired an iconic status. Dixit recalled, “36 years ago, Leena Daru ji created it, and he wanted it to look beautiful and that’s why he gave it small panels on the skirt and a one-sided ponytail because all the tricks are there. She was kind of (represents dance moves) and thought a little ponytail would look great with it.”

The Devdas actress also talked about the hard work that went into executing the song. She shared, “I remember when I went on stage for the first time, and we started shooting this song it was amazing because they made a stage course, it was set, but we rehearsed for this song And I remember I was very tired by the end of the day – we shot all day, all night and at 6:30 in the morning, the next morning I went to Chandra ji (director N. Chandra) and I Was like, I don’t think I Can shoot anymore. I’m tired, you can’t take a close-up of me.”
“They said, OK, no close up, we’ll take a long shot. So you know those 4 changes that I’m walking on like a ramp walk, which were done that morning between 6:30 and 10:30 Went, and we packed up at 10:30 in the morning. So we shot all day, all night, at 10:30 in the morning we packed up, but the song was shot for a few days. Was done,” he shared in the concluding note.
