Lee Min-ho is returning as Han-su in ‘Pachinko’ season 2. The K-drama superstar, known for shows such as ‘Boys Over Flowers’, ‘The Heirs’, ‘The Legends of Blue Sea’ and ‘The King: Eternal Monarch’, plays the powerful and charismatic Han-su in the American series. In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Min-ho shared whether he sees Han-su as a villain or a romantic one and whether he would like to do any Indian projects.
When we asked him to define Han-soo in two words, Min-ho told IndiaToday.in, “Desire and… (pause). I would define it as a strong inner desire.” People who loved ‘Pachinko’ Season 1 were divided on whether Han-soo was evil or just a toxic romantic partner. Min-ho explained that as an actor, he empathised with Han-soo instead of judging him.
Min-ho further explained, “I think, when we look at it from our perspective in this era, it’s natural to think or say that Han-soo is an immoral and bad person. It’s normal to think like that, but when I think about the emotions I felt while playing Han-soo in the series, and if you think about the perspective of the era and historical background in which the show is set, Han-soo had no choice but to make such choices. Therefore, I always empathized with Han-soo, who had to make rational decisions to move to the next step. As an actor, I never thought of him as a bad guy or a villain.”
