Kannada actor-director Upendra has revealed how superstar Aamir Khan liked the teaser of his upcoming film UI. In an exclusive interview with India Today Digital, the Kannada star shared that he got a “happy surprise” when Khan expressed his eagerness to promote UI as he really liked the teaser.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan had recently expressed his excitement about the film. In a video shared by the makers, Aamir was seen praising UI Warner (teaser) with Upendra, calling it “mindblowing” and expressing his admiration for the actor-director.

Speaking to India Today Digital, Upendra revealed how the video came to be and what inspired Aamir to promote the UI. Sharing his experience he said, “It was a big and pleasant surprise for me. I never expected this, I never asked them (to promote the UI). Suddenly, they called me into the caravan and started (recording the video). He expressed very honestly and sincerely that he liked it (the teaser); He holds such a big position and calls a junior like me and praises me.

Upendra further said, “The next day he was asking, ‘Have you uploaded it on Instagram? How is the reaction?’ This is his greatness. We have a lot to learn from such stalwarts.”

Reports suggest that Aamir and Upendra met during the shooting of Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, in which Upendra also plays a role. It is also speculated that Aamir will play a cameo role in the Rajinikanth starrer.

Known for his unconventional approach towards filmmaking, Upendra uses UI to sketch a dystopian future in the year 2040. The film marks his return as a director after nine years. The UI is scheduled for theatrical release on December 20.

UI features an impressive ensemble cast, with Reshma Nanaiah playing the lead role, along with Murali Sharma, P Ravi Shankar, Guruprasad, Nidhi Subbaiah and others playing important roles.
