Kamal Haasan is all set for the release of his much-awaited film Indian 2 aka Hindustani 2, which is scheduled to release worldwide on July 12, 2024. In a recent exclusive Pinkvilla Masterclass, the veteran actor revealed some unheard details from his iconic film Appu Raja.
Talking about the making video of the film not being available even today despite it being a technically advanced film, Haasan said, “I was talking to Mr. Singeetam a few months ago, and we thought how important it is for cinema students to explain to them how we made the film. It’s a very easy and simple thing but it becomes very complicated if you don’t explain it thoroughly.”
Kamal Haasan played the role of a dwarf in the iconic film Appu Raja
Speaking more about this, Kamal Haasan said that he would have to go back and meet director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, whom he jokingly called the youngest director even though he is 94 years old. He said that the director is still sharp and active.
Further, the actor added, “Whatever you thought we did to make me look dwarf, we did, but not in that order. Here, everyone will say you must have folded your legs, but what about when he sits with his legs crossed? That shot was just placed to turn you around.”
This was all before the advent of VFX, otherwise we would have asked him to walk on a rope or hold a cup on his head. We also wanted to teach him to ride a motorcycle, but it was too complicated, and we didn’t have the budget. The complexities we have created in the film are half mechanical and half in-camera effects,” the actor added.
